Cheap talk & cheap reforms destroy our schools
Current MOE has lost all credibility, no rule of law.
- We refer to the recent remarks by Director-General of the Education Ministry, Azam Ahmad, as reported by Malaysiakini: Many sexual harassment, bullying cases 'swept under rug': Edu DG
- As a campaign of teacher whistleblowers, Tiada.Guru is appalled that the MOE is aware of such criminal coverups, yet has not indicated whether all perpetrators and their protectors were reported to MACC. Under MACC Act, gratification is (emphasis ours):
- (f) any other service or favour of any description, including protection from any penalty or disability incurred or apprehended or from any action or proceedings of a disciplinary, civil or criminal nature, whether or not already instituted, & including the exercise or the forbearance from the exercise of any right or any official power or duty;
- YB Fadhlina, as a purported defender of children’s rights, must join with all top MOE leadership to immediately meet MACC to tender all relevant evidence, documents, and records that confirmed these criminal coverups within her Ministry. Inaction against corruption is an endorsement of corruption.
- This pattern of knowing about corruption within the MOE, yet no evidence of immediate MACC reports is enraging & pathetic to all whistleblowers. Cf: Sabah police (Aug 2024), Maszlee (Oct 2025). Unfortunately, this admission by the MOE’s highest offices is further proof of the MOE’s systemic rot with zero accountability. Over time, schools learn from the MOE: it always protects predators, abusers, and worse. This dangerous culture enables teachers & students to abandon their morality, following in the MOE’s footsteps. We see the consequences today, where heinous acts including rape and murder inside our schools are now simply another week at the MOE, per recent media reports.
- This further admission of mega-scandals again proves the deep need for a Public Ombudsman: independent investigations, independent enforcement, witness & whistleblower protection. None of that exists under corruptible MOE internal investigations and it allows the MOE to stomp on children’s rights with impunity. Thus, the only answers are external investigations with external enforcement and broad whistleblower protection, as Tiada.Guru & others proposed via a fiercely independent Public Ombudsman.
