Sometimes you just have to take matters into your own hands. Nafirah Siman did just that after her English teacher had failed to attend classes for seven months straight at her school, SMK Taun Gasi, at Kota Belud, Sabah. The teacher, Jainal Jamran, was alleged to have skipped classes from February 2015 until October 2015 when Nafirah was 15.

PETALING JAYA: Despite going to school for an average of 12 years, Malaysian students get only about nine years' worth of meaningful education, a study by Khazanah Research Institute (KRI) said. Citing research done by the World Bank, the KRI report said Malaysian students had 3.1 years of schooling that did not contribute to their educational achievement.

Kota Kinabalu: The former student who is suing her ex-English teacher for refusing to teach the English subject in her Form Four class for seven months said she did it to stop a "culture of fear and silence in schools and intimidation by the education authorities".
